How to Choose PA Speakers for Your DJ Setup in India

English

Picking the right PA speakers decides whether your DJ booth sounds like a warm, full wedding night — or a harsh, tiring blast that clears the floor. PA (Public Address) speakers are built for live events: they throw sound far, stay clear at high volumes, and survive hours of continuous use. At Punishka Trading in Rohini, New Delhi, we help DJs, event companies and tent-house owners pick PA systems every day. Here is how we guide them.

Active vs Passive PA Speakers

Active speakers have the amplifier built in. You just plug in the signal from your mixer and they play. They are simpler to deploy and perfect for small DJs and mobile setups. Passive speakers need an external amplifier like the PU8000 or PU7800. They are cheaper per watt, easier to repair, and scale better — every serious wedding and concert operator in Delhi runs passive for this reason.

Driver Size — What the Inches Mean

Wattage and Coverage

For weddings in Delhi NCR, a common pairing is two 15-inch tops at 600W RMS each plus two 18-inch subs at 800W RMS each. That covers roughly 500 guests with headroom. Cross-check the speaker's SPL (sound pressure level) — look for 125 dB peak or higher for outdoor use.

Horn coverage matters too. A 90° × 60° horn throws sound farther in a narrow space (banquet hall), while a 90° × 90° horn spreads wider (open lawn). We stock both in our PA systems range.

Cabinet Material and Build

Indian PA speakers come in three cabinet grades: plywood (best durability and sound), MDF (mid-level, budget choice) and molded plastic (lightest, for mobile DJs). For permanent installations and tent houses, always go plywood — it survives monsoon, transport jolts and years of use.

Matching Speakers to Amplifier

Your amplifier should deliver 1.5x the speaker's RMS. A 600W RMS speaker wants an 800–1,200W amp channel. Run a KMC8 DSP in between for crossover, limiter and EQ — this is the single biggest upgrade for sound quality and speaker safety.

Our Recommendation

For a starter DJ targeting 200-guest weddings, we suggest a pair of 15-inch passive tops, a pair of 18-inch subs, a PU8000-class amplifier, a 16-channel mixer and two wireless microphones. Pair with our amplifiers and mic range for a turnkey system under ₹2 lakh.

Passive

Driver Size

Wattage और Coverage

Cabinet Material
