Sub Size Options
- 15-inch subwoofer: Compact, light, good for small halls under 200 guests. Limited low-end below 50 Hz.
- 18-inch subwoofer: The industry standard. Handles 400–900W RMS, reaches down to 35–40 Hz, suits 200–800 guest events. This is what we recommend for 90% of Indian DJs.
- 21-inch subwoofer: For outdoor events, large concerts, 1000+ audience. Heavy and expensive.
- Dual 18-inch cabinet: Two 18" drivers in one cabinet — big SPL, but one cabinet is hard to transport. Better: use 2 single-18 cabinets stacked.
Cabinet Type — Bass Reflex vs Horn-Loaded
Bass reflex (ported) cabinets are cheaper, lighter, and work well for weddings. Front-loaded or folded horns hit harder with less amp power but cost 2–3× more and are bulky. For DJs doing weddings, clubs, or religious events, a good 18" ported cabinet is the right call.

Matching the Amplifier
Under-powering a sub is worse than over-powering it. Send it 1.5–2× the cabinet's program wattage. An 800W sub pairs ideally with 1200–1600W per channel. We usually pair 18" subs with PU8000 (Class-H 4-channel) in bridged mode — gives clean, thumping bass with plenty of headroom. PU7800 works for smaller setups.
Crossover — Don't Skip This
Send full-range signal to a sub and you waste power driving frequencies the sub can't reproduce. Set a high-pass on tops (100 Hz) and low-pass on subs (100 Hz) using your active crossover or DJ mixer with DSP. This single step gives you 20–30% more apparent loudness with the same amp.
Placement — The Secret Weapon
Subs on the floor, centered in front of the stage, never on risers. Two subs spread 2–3 m apart give a bigger bass sweet spot than stacked. For outdoor events, wall-align subs — backing them to a wall doubles effective bass output at no extra cost.
